The Mal Thursday Quintet expands their latest double A-side into the "Kitten with a Whip" EP, featuring another original theme song to a '60s movie that didn't originally have a theme song (see also "A Smell of Honey, A Swallow of Brine!" and "Lady in a Cage"), in this case the 1964 Ann-Margaret juvenile delinquent classic of the same name. The boss flipside, "South of the River," is a raucous reading of the Dirty Strangers number, with the river in this case being the Colorado. "A Smell of Honey, A Swallow of Brine!" is another original movie theme, coming soon to vinyl on the soundtrack LP (Modern Harmonic) and on 45 (Something Weird). "Picture of the Future" is a remake of the Treat Her Right song originally released on the 1986 Tied to the Tracks album, featuring original THR members David Champagne and Jim Fitting. Roky Erickson's "Unforced Peace" is a longtime staple of the Texas chapter's live show, and "Flagrante Delicto," written and sung by New England chapter guitarist Frank Padellaro, was recorded live in September of 2017 at 13th Floor Lounge in Florence, Mass.
